THE NEW BELISON PUBLIC MARKET AS THE MODERN AGORA IN THE PROVINCE OF ANTIQUE

The Municipality of Belison under the leadership of Mayor Christopher H. Piccio is preparing for the major development of Belison Public Market. The proposed new public market will be equipped with modern amenities and spaces to accomodate all existing vendors as well as the new ones. This will open up fresh opportunities for residents especially the business sector and will eventually generate more income for the local government. The old public market of Belison will finally be upgraded and will transform into a modernized public market more than thirty (30) years after it was built in the late 1980’s. The proposed two-story public market will have a 152 regular and medium stalls for wet and dry market as well as counter type for bolanteros or transient vendors and will be feature state-of-the-art facilities. The public toilet will be accessible to male, female and LGBTQ+. There will be an elevator to accomodate elderly, pregnant women and persons with disability. It will also serve as a public gathering place where people comfortably gather and meet. The new Belison Public Market will be the modern agora in the Province of Antique with its aesthetic improvements highlighting skyligh ceiling and air ventilations. Belison, despite being a 5th class municipality aims to flourish as an investment hub in the Province of Antique and to create a new attraction for diverse categories of visitors. The proposed new Belison Public Market will be built by E.R. Venzon Construction, the lone bidder with P79,992,001.64 bid proposal. The groundbreaking ceremony is held last May 24, 2021 prior to its construction which is expected to commence on June of this year. The new public market will keep profits flowing locally in the community.
